CBD and Your Nervous System

CBD (for cannabidiol) is a natural way to manage the health of your nervous system. Its therapeutic properties address many neurological issues. It quells seizures in nearly all age groups. It addresses Parkinson’s, neuropathy, rheumatoid arthritis. The list goes on and on. If it’s happening in your nervous system, the cannabinoids in CBD formulas will help.

How CBD interacts with the body

So how does CBD interact with the nervous system? And why is it important? Let’s begin by introducing an amazing creation found in all mammals: the endocannabinoid system, or ECS.

The ECS governs everything happening in the body, including all other systems, like the nervous and immune systems.

To keep the ECS running and well-oiled, the body produces these molecules called endocannabinoids. They support the healthy functioning of the ECS by working with the cannabinoid receptors we have literally everywhere in our bodies.

If we are not making enough cannabinoids, we can supplement and get a little help from phytocannabinoids. These are the cannabinoids found in plants, such as the cannabis plant, which produces cannabidiol, or CBD, and tetrahydrocannabinol, or TCH.

Other sources of phytocannabinoids include

  • Hemp seed

  • Chia seed

  • Flaxseed

  • Walnuts

  • Eggs

  • Echinacea

  • Sardines

  • Anchovies

  • Dark chocolate

What is Homeostasis

Homeostasis is a big medical word that basically means harmony. It describes the body in a relatively stable state with all systems functioning optimally.

When you lose homeostasis, many things begin to happen. The myelin sheath, which is a protective covering around the nerves, begins to fray. Frayed nerves are like a live wire - they burn out. Then anything toxic that crosses the blood-brain barrier can start to break down. This includes proteins and the brain itself.

Once the nervous system is depleted, that area of the body is no longer getting pulsed. It’s no longer receiving blood or oxygen, and it begins to die within the body. If nothing is done to stop and repair the damage, the body’s nerves start to degenerate. Nerve degeneration leads to all disease.

Is Your CBD Product Working?

CBD gives us phytocannabinoids - which mimic the endogenous cannabinoids that our body produces. It boots the ECS and helps our body return to homeostasis. Great news, right?

The FDA found that many oils being sold as CBD oils contain very little cannabidiol or the levels were lower than the product claimed.

When shopping for your product make sure the website displays the labs and be sure you are purchasing from a reputable company.

If your CBD product is working, you will notice. CBD is most effective when taken consistently over time, and chronic conditions respond well to CBD combinations because of the synergistic effect it has when working together.
